I know there's a lot of hate for the 2 main "straight" ships in this fandom, but kudos to Caleb and Fjord for both saying "I'm in love with this woman, but I'm still working out my own shit and don't want to make things complicated for her so I'm just going to be happy that I at least get to be good friends with her and be there for her when she needs me" because honestly? That's a pretty healthy way to deal with seemingly unrequited love and I think Travis and Liam are playing it so well.

Sometimes I get... exhausted, I guess, by ships and shippers. They're fine, they're fun, you do you (except if you're going to be a dick to other Critters or the cast), but all the attention the ships get really draws focus from the story, and even more, from the platonic relationships. There was SO MUCH in this session. So much happened, including such deep declarations of platonic love, and it's frustrating to know that despite that the tag will be a deluge of shipping drama for the next week. So many golden moments get lost in shipping, or become consumed by ships, and the difference between how romantic and platonic relationships are treated in this fandom is wild. Friends are as important as romantic relationships, if not more. Anyway I'm tired and I just want to talk about this family and how much they love each other, is that really too much to ask.

personally, i think the concept of caleb pining after jester while she’s falling in love with fjord (if that’s the direction this ends up going) is kind of lovely in terms of caleb’s story. i’m a big believer in the effect that unrequited love can have on your own personal journey, i think that loving someone changes you even if they don’t love you back, especially if that person is a friend who does love you, just in a different way. there’s a lot you can learn about yourself and your own capacity for love and growth and healing that way. and loving someone who loves someone else and knowing that you have to just step back because you respect them as a person is noble and mature and, again, can be a really key part of your own character growth. so i like it a lot.

that said, the concept of caduceus quietly pining after fjord while he falls in love with jester is the most devastating fucking thing i have ever heard.

Friendly reminder that Travis goddamned Mcelroy was so consistent with Magnus and his development in regards to stolen century and post stolen century, (despite it being told out of order and the latter being revealed literally 6/7ths of the story in) that you can tell exactly how he develops from a cocky selfish kid into someone who was so willing to put his life on his line for others that it was a borderline problem into someone who has a healthy mix of both, and it doesn’t ever feel jarring or out of character, and THAT MAN is now in charge of our new campaign and, personally, I can’t wait to see how it goes
